WALTHAM, MA — Police late Tuesday released a list of 11 places where men have been assaulted across the city by a serial attacker, putting residents on edge. The pattern seems to be same in each of the attacks between Nov. 10 and Nov. 27 — someone lying in wait under the cover of darkness who assaults unsuspecting men. Police said they do not have a description of the attacker. "The victims have had very limited sight on the assailant due to the nature of it," said Waltham police Chief Keith MacPherson. "They're approached from behind, they're frequently knocked down and the suspect takes off after, so we really don't know at this point." The city is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible, MacPherson said Tuesday. Police released a short video clip this week of a man who may be the assailant. Police said they have increased downtown patrols, including with plain clothes officers. They've also deployed drones across the city, MacPherson said. Police are asking anyone who might have witnessed one of the attacks to come forward and help share information that could help their investigation. Call police at 781-314-3600 (option 4) or the anonymous tip line at 781-314-3636. Mayor Jeannette McCarthy implored residents to not walk alone after dark. "Use the buddy system, if you have to go out," she said.
