Camping overnight half way with dinner included! Book your spot now! Beattyville to Booneville KY along the South Fork of the Kentucky River. Located only 20 south of the Red River Gorge, Exit 33 of the Mountian Parkway. About this event The Beattyville/Lee County Tourism Commission and the Owsley County Tourism Commission/City of Booneville are partnering up for this overnight paddle event. Event price includes shuttle to the launch point, dinner that evening at the half way point, and primitive camping. Bring your own camping gear. The Lee County Search and Rescue volunteers will transport it to the camping spot along the river. They will also help transport kayaks to the launch site. Bring your own canoes and kayaks. Rentals are available for canoes and kayaks, message cooridnator if you need to reserve a kayak. Don't want to primitive camp? That's ok. There are several rental places around. Book a cabin or hotel room in Booneville or Beattyville then meet up with the group in the morning for the second half of the journey. Parking & Registration: 8am-9am Park along the KY River in Beattyville across from Jack's IGA on River Drive. Everyone must sign in and sign a waver. Load your camping gear in the supply trailer, kayaks on the second trailer and hop in the van! Day 1: Launch : 9:30am-10:00am Launch from Wolfe Creek Ramp located on HWY 11 at Upper Wolfe Creek Road. There is a 5 mile stretch with plenty of opportunities to stretch, fish, and play in the water. At mile 5 pull off to the left bank and portage around the low water concrete bridge at Kay Wood Road. From here it is a 7 mile stretch of scenic river that winds around the city of Booneville. The take out point is a the Fish Creek Ramp located on Fish Creek Rd. Dinner: 7pm Your event ticket includes dinner. A grill out of hamburgers, hot dogs, and the trimmings. Marshmallow also provided for the evening campfire. Camping: Camping gear will be locked in a dropped trailer at the half way point and ready for you at the end of the first day. Primitive camping with porta-potties on site. Make your camping spot anywhere around the ramp area. There will be designated spots for campfires. Day 2: Launch : 8:30am Launch from Fish Creek Ramp and head downstream toward Beattyville. Shoals and opportunities to take breaks and stretch over the first 5 miles. The river becomes wider and deeper the rest of the way (mile 6-11). The take out point will be at the parking lot along River Drive behind Jack's IGA on the banks of the Kentucky River where South Fork and North Fork Rivers merge. $40.00 per person: includes shuttle, meal, & event t-shirt.
