It is the ability to adapt well to trauma, adversity, threats, and other stressors, to bounce back from difficulty, to cope in the face of distress, to be flexible in new or unusual circumstances, to see opportunity in challenges through hope and a positive attitude.This class focuses on twelve habits of resilient people. Her background is in pastoral counseling and psychology with an emphasis in crisis and trauma. As a long-time disaster responder responsible for volunteer and staff care, she has learned a lot about resilience and bouncing back from the hardships of life. Home is the northern mountains of New Mexico, where she lived until going to college. Since then her path has been one of learning, serving and loving. She has served and continues to serve in many capacities that involve emotional care training, pastoring, and stress management. Sue and her husband Dave have two children and one grandchild. As Salvation Army officers (pastors and CEOs of the local organization), they have lived in four different states. They are now retired and living near family in Kansas.
