WALTHAM, MA — Waltham declared a snow emergency and parking ban ahead of Wednesday night's storm. And Schools will all hold classes online Thursday, according to the district. Snow is expected to start falling in the city around 8 p.m. Wednesday and the Watch City is expected to get between 8 and 12 inches of snow overnight and into Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. The city has already announced that trash and recycling will be delayed a day, but have not yet to announce whether schools will move to an all-online model for Thursday. During a parking ban, there is no on-street parking permitted. Instead, officials ask that you park in municipal and school parking lots — or risk getting towed. The parking ban will begin at 9:30 p.m. for all city streets. Thursday and Friday trash collection will be delayed a day. There will be no trash collection on Thursday. The city asks that you bring in your trash and recycling barrels so they don't get knocked over by plows. Schools will be online only Thursday. Read more: Waltham Get Snow Days This Winter? Generally, the Public Works Director calls a "snow emergency" when excessive amounts of snow are predicted. All cars are required to be removed from all roadways to allow for a better clearing job.
