Description

WALTHAM, MA — Overnight Waltham turned into a winter wonderland. Department of Public Works crews were out all night working to treat the roadways and keep the snow at bay and will be working beyond the last snowflake. Thursday morning there were more people walking their dogs than drivers, as people, already working from home obeyed the mayor's call to stay off the roads this morning. Trained spotters for the National Weather Service reported 16 inches of snow fell in Waltham by 1:15 p.m. According to the National Weather Service Boston broke its record snowfall for Dec. 17 at more than 9 inches of snow. Logan Airport reported just under 10 inches of snow as of 8:22 a.m. Thursday. Newton and Brookline reported just under a foot of the white stuff. Here's a look at the snow globe that was Waltham Thursday: Denise Sanderson captured the smiling eyes of her children Marley and Silas Nielsen as they were out for a walk on the south side at the end of the school day.
