Come and join us in bringing awareness to mental health and learn ways to maintain a healthy mind! What does it take to push you or those around you “over the edge”? In this luncheon, we will learn the signs and symptoms of physical, mental, and emotional distress and how to practically move toward a more balanced wellbeing. Whether you want to learn what to be aware of in others or yourself, this lunch and learn is for you. Areas Covered: • The difference between mood and emotion • Improve communication skills with distressed individuals • Improve personal communication skills • Develop better understanding of mental and emotional distress • Develop greater understanding of mind/body/behavior connections • Learn strategies to de-escalate distressed individuals • Learn strategies to de-escalate personal stress • Importance of self-care • Receive personal self-care strategies Presenter: Toni Halgas, LCSW, has lived several lives. Her first career was as an elementary school teacher, teaching in inner city Los Angeles, Tampa, and Eastern Europe. After earning her degree in Social Work, she became a college professor at St Joseph’s College. Toni transitioned to fulltime Hospice Social Work, serving Jasper and Newton Counties for 11 years before taking her current position as an Employee Assistance Therapist with Franciscan Alliance. Toni is CISM trained and trained in EMDR, a therapeutic modality to deal with trauma survivors. Toni continues to work with Haven Hospice in DeMotte and maintains a small private therapy practice. In her free time, she hangs with family and her prettier than smart dog, Daryl Dixon. SAFE will be providing 1.5 CEUs for this event and lunch will be provided.
