Audience: 4th, 5th, 8th, 11th & 12th grade teachers
Presenter: Erika Barrish LCOE Learning Support Specialist
Partner with Lake County Pomo tribes to strategize teaching specific, standard-based historical concepts in a culturally responsive way. Make your history curriculum relevant for local students, build partnerships for ongoing collaboration, and engage in honest, important conversations about the teaching of history. Participants will receive resources to assist in planning and teaching these concepts.
Session Format: On day one, we will examine California History Social Science standards relevant for this work, and reference the California History Social Science Framework. We will work with Lake County Tribal members to reconcile local considerations with these California documents and have honest dialogue about teaching concepts like westward expansion, the Gold Rush, the California missions, and civil rights in a culturally responsive way.
On day two, we will plan to teach these issues and others with specific culturally responsive resources.
Stipend: $100 per training day after the completion. Stipends are subject to employer's costs.
