OCEANSIDE, NY — Service has been restored to the Long Beach branch of the LIRR after a person was hit by a train earlier this morning near Oceanside. The person was struck just after 8 a.m. by the 7:56 train from Long Beach, according to the LIRR. The incident caused many rush-hour trains on the line to be canceled. It's unclear at this time who the person was or what they were doing on the tracks when they were hit.
