LONG BEACH, NY — Two Long Beach paramedics helped a woman deliver her baby in her home early Sunday after realizing they wouldn't make it to the hospital in time. According to the Long Beach Fire Department, a 911 call came in at 3:51 a.m. Sunday for a woman in labor in a home on East Walnut Street. Paramedics Samantha Datre and Valarie Lucas arrived, and realized they wouldn't be able to get the mother to the hospital in time. The paramedics requested the assistance of the fire department's Engine 3 crew, and in a few minutes had helped deliver a healthy baby boy. Mother and child were then transported to Mount Sinai South Nassau hospital for evaluation.
