Description

Press release from the Town of Wakefield: April 29, 2022 Last year, Wakefield's Department of Public Works (DPW) partnered with Black Earth Compost to offer residents a voluntary, curbside compost pickup program. Due to the popularity of the program, the DPW has purchased more starter kits! The next 50 residents who enroll in the program will receive a free starter kit, including a 13-gallon bin and a roll of bin liners. We have reached a volume discount rate of $69.99 for a six-month commitment. There are currently 375 residences signed up. Once we reach 500 participants, the price drops to $49.99 for 6 months. In addition to food waste, including egg shells, coffee grounds, and meat bones, the compost program accepts items like toothpicks, popsicle sticks, houseplants and flowers, paper towels, and cooking oil. Learn more about the program and enroll! This press release was produced by the Town of Wakefield. The views expressed here are the author's own.
