Press release from San Diego County Sheriff's Department: April 30, 2022 On April 30th just after 9:30 a.m., deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff's Station's Transit Enforcement Unit responded to a report of a pedestrian who was struck by a Northbound Coaster train, in the restricted area of the railroad track near Sassafras Street in the city of San Diego. Upon arrival, the pedestrian involved in the collision was deceased. Deputies are investigating the incident. The manner of death will be determined by the San Diego County Medical Examiner's office. Anyone with information about this incident can call the Sheriff's Department's non-emergency line at (858) 565-5200. The Sheriff's Transit Enforcement Unit investigates incidents along the routes of the North County Transit District. The Medical Examiner's Office will make a positive identification of the body pending notification of the family. This press release was produced by San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
