Description

Join us for an inspiring night of storytelling and learning about walking alongside refugee neighbors. Welcoming refugees has been a faithful response of the Christian Reformed Church for decades. Starting in the 1960s, CRC members welcomed Cuban refugees through Christian Reformed World Relief Committee, now World Renew. Over the years, CRCNA churches have continued to welcome newcomers from Vietnam, Cambodia, Syria, Iraq, South Sudan, and beyond. Today, as families from places including Afghanistan and Ukraine flee violence and devastation, the church again has the opportunity to respond with welcome. If you want to learn more about how you and your church can walk alongside newcomers, this event is for you. You’ll hear the experience of someone who came to the U.S. as a refugee, learn from folks currently walking alongside New Americans, and be equipped to take action in your community and on public policy. In-person participants will be entered into a drawing for a gift card to the Treetops Collective Shop (which hosts our Blessing Not Burden tees!). The winner will be announced at the end of the night.
