Monrovia Conserves According to Anthony Fellow, the Director of Upper San Gabriel Municipal Water District, "Southern California just experienced the three driest months in the state's history. April will likely become month four." In addition to the lack of rainfall, the State Water Project has also cut water allocations to the San Gabriel Valley (SGV) by 10%, critically effecting continued sustainability of our local groundwater basin. It was noted, however, that residents of the SGV have done a tremendous job conserving water by cutting water usage collectively by 25%. As drought conditions continue to worsen, every effort we make to conserve today will help extend our limited water supplies. For more information, check out the drought fact sheets and water saving resources from the Upper San Gabriel Valley Water District. Excess water usage penalties went into effect starting the first billing cycle in March 2022. The City has been expanding educational outreach for many months to ensure all Monrovians are aware of Phase II of the Water Conservation Plan and what that means for your water consumption and your water bill. As a recap, Phase II of the Water Conservation Plan stipulates a 10% mandatory reduction in water consumption from each households same month billing period in 2020. For example, the first billing period in March will compare your usage from February of 2022 to your usage in February of 2020. Tools to Help You Conserve Water Rebates - Save $$ when you save H2O!
