JOLIET, IL —A 38-year-old man from Bellwood was arrested over the weekend by Joliet police after officers say Shane Davis threatened to shoot the employees working at the St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store at 1820 West Jefferson Street. Davis became irate when he learned the employees refused to buy the items Davis brought to the thrift store, Joliet police reports show. Officers arrested Davis on charges of battery, assault, disorderly conduct and obstructing a peace officer. Saturday's disturbance happened at 1:10 p.m. "Officers determined that Davis grew angry with employees after they had refused to purchase items that Davis had brought to the store," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English notified Patch. "The employees asked Davis to leave, at which time Davis grew angry and threatened to shoot them after claiming to possess a handgun." According to police, Davis pushed one of the employees. When Joliet police got to the store, they took the Bellwood man away in handcuffs. After searching Davis, officers determined that Davis did not possess a gun, English stated. Joliet police released Davis from custody on an I-bond.
