MAPLE GROVE, MN — The Maple Grove Police Department recently fulfilled its pledge to send some of its gear to support Ukrainians defending against Russia's ongoing invasion. A Maple Grove community services officer delivered "critical and much needed equipment," including ballistic vests, helmets and knee pads, to the Ukrainian American Community Center in Minneapolis, Maple Grove Police Chief Eric Werner tweeted Sunday. The Maple Grove Police Department pledged to donate 58 patrol vests, 31 riot helmets, 12 SWAT helmets and seven SWAT vests, Werner said in a memo to the City Council.
