Son Arrested After 69-Year-Old Mother Found Dead In Palmdale

PALMDALE, CA — Authorities were investigating the death of a woman who was found inside a Palmdale home where her son reportedly barricaded himself Saturday. Sheriff's deputies were dispatched Saturday to respond to reports of assault with a deadly weapon around 6:13 a.m. to a home on the 4300 block of Desert Aire Avenue, the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department wrote in a statement. Surrounding homes in the area were evacuated for the safety of residents, officials said. A 74-year-old man called 911 to report that his stepson had attacked him and his wife, who was the suspect's 69-year-old mother. The suspect, 36, then hid out in the garage until he was taken into custody. A 38-year-old woman was also detained.
