BOLINGBROOK, IL — In what was billed as the ultimate tug-of-war, a team sponsored by Bolingbrook officials and made up of Bolingbrook police officers raised more than $2,000 for Special Olympics by pulling a plane over the weekend in the name of a good cause.
The team, which was led by captain and Bolingbrook Police Chief Mike Rompa, pulled the aircraft 12 feet in 4.986 seconds on Saturday at Lewis University in Romeoville. The Bolingbrook Police Department team was supported by Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta along with Village Trustee Michael Carpanzano.
The effort led to the team making a donation of $2,200 to the Special Olympics.
