BRADENTON, FL — With our flat terrain and endless highways, Florida ranked 15th in the nation as one of the best states to drive in, according to a new study by personal finance website WalletHub. "To determine the most driver-friendly states in the U.S., WalletHub compared the 50 states across 31 key metrics," the website said in releasing the findings on Tuesday. "The data set ranges from average gas prices to share of rush-hour traffic congestion to road quality." Florida ranked fourth in the nation for the number of car dealerships per person and fifth for the number of auto repair shops. It also ranked 11th for road quality. But the state got dinged for its 37th-place ranking for rush hour traffic congestion and 33rd-place finish for traffic fatalities. Florida was considered average for gas prices, car thefts and auto maintenance. The study found that the best states for driving were Iowa, Tennessee, North Carolina, Texas and Nebraska. The worst states for driving were Hawaii, Rhode Island, Washington, California and Colorado, according to WalletHub. Click here to read the full report.
