MICHIGAN — After Michigan's average gas prices slightly dipped under $4 per gallon last week, prices once again jumped Monday over that threshold, according to AAA.
The state's average for a gallon of regular gas was at $4.06, 12 cents higher than last week, but nearly the same price from a month ago, according to AAA. Michigan's average price for unleaded regular gas was still slightly lower than the national average of $4.19.
Additionally, nationwide diesel prices hit an all-time high with the average at $5.30 a gallon, up from $2 compared to this time last year, according to AAA. Michigan's average price for diesel fuel was lower than the national average at $4.97.
In metro Detroit, drivers paid an average of $4.05 for a gallon of gas, up roughly six cents from last week, according to AAA. Average prices in metro Detroit were among the highest in the state, along with Marquette ($4.19) Jackson ($4.07) and Ann Arbor ($4.06).
Some of the cheapest places in the state to get gas were in Traverse City ($3.96) Grand Rapids ($4.01) and Lansing ($4.02), according to AAA.
