DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A woman who authorities say shot a teenage girl in the face in while driving eastbound on Interstate 20 was denied bond Monday.
Brittney Griffith, 30, of Temple, Georgia, is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony in connection with the apparent road-rage incident, according to a statement from the Douglasville Police Department.
Griffith also is charged with three counts of cruelty to children. Griffith's own children — ages 4 to 9 — were in the car with her when authorities say she shot a 17-year-old female in the face late Sunday afternoon.
Witnesses in the victim's vehicle told investigators that a woman in a black sedan had been following them since Villa Rica, where "some type of road rage incident began." Near Highway 5, according to witnesses, the suspect pulled up next to the vehicle and fired at least one shot, police said. The suspect's vehicle then exited to Chapel Hill Road.
The victim, still unidentified publicly, was taken to a hospital and last reported to be in stable condition, according to Douglasville police.
A passenger in the victim's vehicle took a photo of the suspect. Once it was posted to social media, multiple people identified her as Griffith, police said.
