Due to explosive sales growth we are adding a full-time position in our Springfield compressed gas cylinder plant. This person will be responsible for the following areas: Cylinder Processor and Operator: Responsible for sorting incoming cylinders, recording incoming cylinder shipments and verifying order accuracy, loading/unloading delivery trucks by forklift, pallet jack or cylinder cart, maintaining organization, assisting customers on the dock during regular business hours, and maintaining accurate cylinder inventory. Additionally, you’ll fill high pressure cylinders and portable liquid containers with industrial oxygen, nitrogen, CO2 or hydrocarbons, inspect cylinders prior to filling while following government and industry standard procedures, while also examining returned cylinders for surface defects such as dents, cracks, or burns. You’ll maintain accurate labeling by removing any and all old labels and then cleaning cylinders to make sure those labels are legible, compliant with current federal requirements, and correct for the intended service. You’ll learn the hazards of various gases; size and contents of cylinders by reading and interpreting cylinder labels and tank color-coding, and you’ll test cylinders for leaks. May assist with dry ice production. Cylinder Maintenance: Responsible for safely operating our Ultrasonic Examination (UE) Machine to perform cylinder inspections. The machine utilizes high frequency sound waves to measure physical properties such as thickness measurements to verify the cylinder is safe for use. You’ll operate computer equipment to inspect, maintain and perform maintenance on ultrasonic testing equipment, calibrate and adjust ultrasonic testing equipment to required standards and settings, record test results, cylinder serial number, and test date in a timely and accurate manner. You’ll review and interpret test results and documentation as it relates to local, state, and federal compliance and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This process additionally involves making sure compressed gas cylinders maintain DOT standards by visually identifying material flaws including cracks, corrosion or other defects. After visual inspection you’ll sand-blasting cylinders to remove all paint, stamp cylinders with required markings, and paint cylinders using a paint gun in our paint booth. Skills needed: Accuracy, teamwork, pro-active communication, organization, adaptability, and confidence in acting decisively in a fast-paced, deadline-sensitive environment. We’re looking for a motivated, enthusiastic self-starter with the ability to prioritize own workload, work independently, and exercise independent decision-making. Dependability….the ability to arrive at work on time, each day, ready to work…is critical. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools, demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, detail oriented with the ability to complete handwritten compliance documentation neatly and accurately. Our cylinders are made of steel and can be heavy and awkward to move--ability to routinely move 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally transport 76 to greater than 100 lbs. with the aid of material handling equipment. The position is entry level, but we are growing and hiring for our future.
