Press release from the Lindenhurst Union Free School District: Nov. 10, 2020 In recognition of Election Day on Nov. 3, students throughout the Lindenhurst Union Free School district took part in various lessons to learn about the process of electing and the responsibilities of a president.At Alleghany Avenue Elementary School, first grade students in Lauren DiBernardo and Sandra Lercari's class conducted a vote to determine which invisible "Secret Student Fairy" would reside in the classroom and identify students daily who work hard. Students were introduced to the candidates "Flash Fairy" and "Firefly Fairy" and then given the opportunity to cast their ballot. In the end, the majority of students voted to name the fairy Flash.In addition to exploring the process of electing a president, first grade students of Albany Avenue Elementary School discussed the role and responsibilities of a president.
