Lydia's Fields Farm, a 10-acre diversified vegetable operation, is seeking two (2) additional awesome and hard-working farm team members for the 2022 season, either full- or part-time. Prior farming/gardening experience is a plus, but not required; a good work ethic and strong character are important. The position would start at $15 per hour or more for someone with good experience and free housing for one person or a couple. The pay would go up from $15 per hour for high performers. Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record. Job Duties: - CSA & wholesale deliveries twice a week (company vehicle provided) - Market sales at Falls Church Farmers Market two Saturdays per month - Seeding, transplanting, weeding/cultivating, mulching, and bed preparation - Harvesting, washing, and packing vegetables - Assisting in greenhouse management, watering, temperature management - Grounds maintenance (weed whipping, mowing, irrigation assistance) - Learning lots Note: We are seeking two candidates, so if you prefer fieldwork to market sales or vice-versa, we can accommodate. Alternatively, if you are interested in all facets of the farm, we can discuss the possibility of full-time employment. Required Skills: - Positive attitude, agility, and willingness to pivot and prioritize based on weather conditions, and market and sales deadlines - Ability to lift 50 lbs - Production-minded work ethic and an understanding that cultivation sets the pace, not conversation. - Experience with small power tools and lawn equipment a plus. About the farm: Lydia's Fields is a 10-acre diversified vegetable farm located in a dynamic, collaborative 400-acre farming community in Purcellville, Virginia. We cultivate multiple varieties of heirloom tomatoes, figs, and asparagus, as well as blueberries, various herbs, cabbage, broccoli, peppers and many other vegetables that thrive in our region with regenerative growing practices. And we have fun doing it! We sell our produce through direct and wholesale channels including a CSA, a weekly market in Falls Church, VA, and wholesale to local restaurants and neighboring farms.
