BRADENTON, FL — Two veteran detectives tied the knot outside the place where they first met: Bradenton Police Headquarters, police said in a news release. Detectives Jay Gow and Lixa Moyett said "I do" outside police headquarters on Saturday afternoon. Detectives Jay Gow and Lixa Moyett were married outside Bradenton Police Department Headquarters, where they first met, on Saturday. (Bradenton Police Department) They were married by Bradenton police Chief Melanie Bevan, who became a notary specifically to officiate Gow's and Moyett's wedding, according to WWSB. About a year ago, she asked the couple when they planned to get married. "And they said, 'When you decide to marry us, Chief,'" she said at the wedding. "I wasn't a notary, and I took the challenge to heart and I went out and became one and here we are today." Both the bride and groom wore their Class A uniforms to honor the career that brought them together, police said. Like what you're reading?
