New project "JGMS" looking for a drummer! We will be covering the music of Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders played from 1971- 1974. This is a wide range of tunes! Blues, jazz, rock, improvisation, noise, etc. You must be able to either play in these different genres or willing to learn and keep an open mind. This is a 4 piece band consisting of drums, bass, organ/keys, guitar. The goal starting out will be to get together and jam every two weeks or so and once we have a good repertoire, start looking for the occasional gig. An 18 song list has already been chosen. This is a project that's aimed at having fun and being loose. If you are not interested in improvisational music, please don't apply. A working knowledge of the repertoire is necessary. This is not a note-for-note copy band. Rather, we will keep the vibe of what Jerry and Merl did while playing creatively so as to not sacrifice our artistic integrity.
