Press release from the Town of Wakefield: November 10, 2020 The MBTA's Forging Ahead initiative aims to adapt to changing ridership and lost revenue caused by COVID-19. This includes reducing service where it is not being used and focusing available resources on essential services. The cuts being proposed by the MBTA impact, among other areas, the Melrose Cedar Park station; the 136 bus route; commuter rail service; and Orange Line service. The MBTA's proposal is not final, and they have launched a community feedback period for you to provide your input. Town leaders will urge the MBTA to reconsider these cuts and will continue to work with our state and federal delegation to find the resources to support these critical transportation services.
