WAKEFIELD, MA — One person was killed in a rollover on I-95 Tuesday morning, state police said. The crash happened shortly before 5:30 a.m. on the southbound side of the highway in Wakefield.
The driver was taken to Lahey Hospital in Burlington, where he was pronounced dead. State police identified the driver as Michael Creech, 35, of Weymouth.
Investigators believe Creech was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla that came into contact with a 2015 Jeep Wrangler, causing the Corolla to roll over several times. The driver of the Wrangler, a 61-year-old Saugus man, had no apparent injuries.
Two lanes on I-95 were closed for about two hours following the crash.
"The cause of the crash is under investigation by Troop A of the Massachushetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Crime Scene Services Section and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section," a Massachusetts State Police spokesperson said in a statement.
