About Amy Wiggins Amy is a communications professional whose career has focused on Lakeland non-profit organizations. After finishing her BA at Florida Southern College, she worked as the YMCA of West Central Florida’s first Teen Development Director before beginning a career in communications and economic development at the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce. From 2005 to 2015, she served the Lakeland Chamber in resource development and membership recruitment role and later as Vice President of Communications. Most recently she served as Executive Director of Lakeland Symphony Orchestra, previously known as Imperial Symphony Orchestra. While there, she led the group’s effort to transition from volunteer to professional musicians and a rebrand of the organization to better reflect its connection between music and the community. Amy also has an extensive community volunteer resume. She has served on the Board of Directors for both Lakeland Vision and Polk Vision, is a Council Member of Lakeland Mayor’s Council on the Arts, is the current President of Polk Art Alliance, is past-President of the Polk County Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association and is current Board Chair of Linking Community Now (LkldNow.com). When she’s not attending a concert or supporting local arts and organizations, Amy enjoys honing her gluten-free baking skills and rehabilitating orchids from the clearance rack.
