BERKSHIRE CONCERT CHOIR AND VOCALIS YOUTH CHOIR PRESENT NEW BEGINNINGS CONCERT FEATURING RUTTER's MASS OF THE CHILDREN. Berkshire Concert Choir will present John Rutter’s Mass of the Children with chamber ensemble and soloists in collaboration with the Vocalis Youth Choir on Friday, June 3, at 7 pm in Common Room at Zion Lutheran Church in Pittsfield and on Saturday, June 4, at 6 pm at Saint James Place in Great Barrington. The Choir’s Artistic Director is Matthew O. Thomas. Vocalis, a newly formed youth choir in Great Barrington, is led by Artistic Director Julie Bickford. Soloists are John Demler, baritone, and Rose Hunsberger, soprano. The two choirs will sing the Mass together and be accompanied on organ by Scott Bailey and a ten-piece chamber ensemble. The two choirs will then perform several pieces individually and will be accompanied by Amy Renak of the Berkshire Concert Choir and Dorothy Cowles of Vocalis, both on piano. Now in its 45th year of providing fine choral music in the Berkshires, the Berkshire Concert Choir recently performed its winter concert featuring Vivaldi’s Gloria with soloists and chamber ensemble at St. Ann Church in Lenox. The Choir proactively supports the annual Yule for Fuel benefit event, donations to food pantries, and donations to the Kids 4 Harmony initiative in Berkshire County. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students. Children twelve and under are free. Tickets are available on Eventbrite or from a Berkshire Concert Choir member, or at the door. Covid protocols will be in place as required by each venue. Both venues are handicap accessible. These performances are dedicated to the children of Ukraine and all children impacted by war, displacement, and violence. A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to Ukraine relief efforts.
