So you live in a house, but don’t know anything about how it works? This is the workshop for you! Houses 101 **THIS IS A 2-PART WORKSHOP OVER 2 DATES, PLEASE RESERVE TICKETS FOR BOTH DATES** PART 1 - Thursday, May 19, 7PM-9PM PART 2 - Thursday, May 26, 7PM-9PM This 2-class workshop is designed to teach beginners about the many layers and systems that make up a house along with some basic home maintenance skills. Workshop participants will walk around our Casa Colina house tracking the different components of the house, learning about their functions, key safety tips, and how to tell if anything is awry. All participants will receive an optional take-home activity to do during the week between the two classes to help apply what has been learned into the class directly to your own house. Part 1 of the workshop will cover the basics of the following topics: - Plumbing systems - HVAC systems - Electrical systems - Natural gas Part 2 of the workshop will cover the basics of the following topics: - Roof and gutter systems - Interior finish wall assemblies and framing - Foundations - Windows and Doors About the teacher: Tanner Daniels (he/him) got into trade work in 2019 following a desire to get away from his desk job career and exercise a different skill set. He joined staff with a company based in Price Hill, and has spent his professional time remodeling and learning from other talented craftsmen while honing his personal craft. Tanner currently resides in Cincinnati with his lovely wife, beautiful young son, and slightly rambunctious golden doodle. This is a donation-based workshop. Suggestion ticket donation for this 2-class workshop is $50 ($25/class). Participants are encouraged to donate as their financial capacity allows. Do It Yourself Darlin is a program of the non-profit CDC Price Hill Will. All of DIYD’s funding comes from donations and grants.
