WAKEFIELD, MA — Three New York residents are facing drug charges after authorities seized 8 kilograms of MDMA in Wakefield. Xaio Yang Wu, 20, and Jinhang Liu, 32, both of Brooklyn, and Yongxia Zheng, 33, of Flushing, were arrested after they arrived at a UPS store in Wakefield to retrieve a package with 8,053 grams of crystallized MDMA inside, the Middlesex District Attorney's office said.
The package was mailed from Germany and was first discovered at JFK Airport in New York June 29, the DA said. It had a final destination of the UPS store in Wakefield.
The amount of MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy or molly, would have been worth over $300,000 after it was packaged for street sale, the DA's office said.
