Well, that knowledge exists - it is the teachings of the wisdom-traditions of humanity. Throughout history, there were people who dedicated themselves to the love (philo) of wisdom (sophia), and their experiences are still transmitted from one generation of philosophers to the next. The Living Philosophy course is an opportunity to discover those teachings, and to put them into practice in everyday life. It is an opportunity to add your own voice and experience to the exceptional human beings who have developed and practiced these ideas. What can Hinduism teach us about our inner struggles and strengths? What can Plato teach us about truth? What can ancient Egypt teach us about justice? What can Buddhism teach us about suffering and happiness? What can Stoicism teach us about resilience and freedom? In this course you will find practical tools to learn to live with more freedom and sustained happiness. You will gain fresh perspectives to make sense of the world we live in today. You will explore the path of inner change as a key to actively contributing towards building a better world. New Acropolis is an international volunteer-based non-profit association with branches in more than fifty countries around the world. It has more than 60 years of experience researching, teaching, and practicing the best ideas of humanity, bringing them up to date, and implementing them through cultural and volunteering actions in its respective communities. New Acropolis has been active in the Chicagoland area since 2005, proud to serve the diverse and vibrant population of the City in a Garden. This is a free trial class for the course.
