Description
Help San Mateo County restore habitat at Coyote Point Recreation Area by removing invasive weeds! With its large playground, stunning views, and spring wildflower bloom, Junipero Serra is a park that is popular with families, nature enthusiasts, and many other members of the community. Its many natural features and its recreational facilities make it the perfect park for a wide variety of visitors to enjoy. If you'd like to help protect this space, come join us Saturday, May 28th as we remove invasive plant species such as Scotch and French broom within this park. We ask that you wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing you don't mind getting dirty for your protection and comfort. We also recommend that you bring a personal water bottle for each member of your group; drinking water may not always be available at our volunteer sites. Sunscreen, snacks, hats, and layers are also great to have on hand in case the weather gets warm or cold! If weather conditions are deemed too extreme, this event may be canceled and we will reach out to participants by email. If signing up as a family or a group, please adjust the number of volunteer sign-ups according to the number of volunteers in your party when filling out your registration form. Groups of eight or more must contact [email protected] at least 3 weeks in advance to register. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be registered by a parent or guardian. Youth under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. We will be following current state protocols in regards to COVID-19 (subject to change by the time of the event). Masks are not required when outdoors and distanced from other volunteers; we ask that you wear a face mask or face covering when you are within 6 feet of others. All volunteer events held by San Mateo County Volunteer Stewardship have a maximum capacity of 30 volunteers (not including staff). A reminder email with more detailed instructions on the day's activities and where to meet will also be sent in advance of the event. We look forward to seeing you in the parks!
