in search of stray/houseless cat to take in

I’m looking to take in a pet cat- I’ve partially filled out the SPCA paperwork in the past and it’s more trouble than I want to go through. Ideally, maybe someone out there has been feeding a friendly stray in need of a home- I’m your guy. When I was a kid my family started feeding a stray tabby cat and he became the best pet ever. Looking to find a companion like that in my adult life! Of course there is concern involved with bringing in a stray animal, but I have no problem taking it to get shots and spayed/neutered. I’m looking to find a pet more organically rather than going through the whole adoption process. Putting out my feelers, if anyone out there has any leads please reach out!
