Description

We're rehoming our dog Jack. Jack is a three year old Australian Cattle Dog/German Shepherd mix. He’s 50 lbs with bold and beautiful markings (he often gets compliments on his eyebrows!). He is in great health and up to date on all of his shots. Jack is sweet, smart, playful, athletic, goofy, independent, and very food motivated. He knows sit, down, stay, and will wait very patiently for his food until you tell him “okay!” Jack can be both high energy and super mellow: he loves hiking and chasing balls but is also just as happy to spend all day sleeping. When hiking he has great recall and never runs away. Jack has excellent manners in the house: he never steals food, doesn’t chew anything that isn’t his toy, doesn’t go on the furniture, is fully potty trained (he can hold his pee for 12+ hours!), and is polite enough to never push open a door. Jack is good with other dogs and enjoys playing at the dog park and going on pack walks. It’s important to know that Jack is shy around humans. It took him a few weeks to warm up to us but now he’s very sweet and affectionate, following us around the house and loves being pet, cuddled, and played with. He’s wary of strangers and prefers to not be pet until he gets to know someone. He gets very nervous when people come to our house, barks a lot, and demonstrates typical cattle dog/herding behavior i.e. he likes for everyone to be settled in one space and not move around. Jack has had limited exposure to kids. Jack’s ideal home would have lots of love, lots of outdoor space, another dog, no kids, and not a huge amount of visitors or a quiet place to hang out so he doesn’t have to interact with new people who come over. We're dedicated to find a really good home for Jack and are happy to answer any of your questions. We hope you can give Jack a wonderful home!
