They are well-known (particularly in Southern California) music group comprised of Cantor Mike Stein (our first session presenter) and his family. The Steins incorporate a wide range of musical styles in their performances—funk, jazz, country, blues, Israeli, hip-hop—and they often work together to write original compositions. In addition to Cantor Stein, the group consists of his son Jared Stein, a renowned music educator who worked with Rabbi Sacks at de Toledo High School. He not only plays in the Nashuva Band, but has performed and recorded with such artists as Theodore Bikel, Nava Tehilla, Peter Yarrow, Moshav, Distant Cousins, and Craig Taubman. Jared’s brother Justin graduated from CSUN as a vocal performance major and is an accomplished bassist with the Nashuva Band and the Middle Eastern Jam Ensemble.
