PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY — A 32-year-old man has been charged in connection with the stabbing of a 20-year-old man early Sunday morning in Port Jefferson, Suffolk cops say. Two men on Main Street, near Arden Place, had exchanged some heated words and began fighting when one of the men stabbed the other in the arm at about 2 a.m., said police, adding that the victim was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released. Officers from the 6th Precinct canvassed the surrounding area and arrested Nicholas Thornton of St. James a short time later and he was charged with second-degree assault, according to police.
