Black Lives Matter Protesters Gather In Levittown: PHOTOS

LEVITTOWN, NY — Black Lives Matter demonstrators gathered in Levittown at a march on Sunday to protest systemic racism and police brutality. The protest, which was organized by the Levittown Coalition for Change, Young Long Island for Justice and Muslims for Progress, began at the parking lot behind the Tri-County Flea Market. Speakers featured at the protest included Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages, Phoebe-Eligon Jones of Blupoetres Creations and Young Long Island for Justice Co-Leader Deana Davoudiasl. Protesters then marched through the streets of Levittown holding signs and flags in support of Black lives. Demonstrators also helped people register to vote, according to a PIX 11 report. The protest was held following the killing of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man who died in Minneapolis police custody in late May, and amid a nationwide surge in support for the Black Lives Matter movement.
