LEVITTOWN, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories. This submission comes from Lorena Acerra, who nominated Kirsten Kenney. Name: Kirsten Kenney State: NY Hometown: Levittown Hero's job: Education Relationship to nominee: Coworker Finley Middle School, Glen Cove Reason for recognition: Kirsten runs the food pantry out of Finley Middle School and has continued to feed Glen Cove residents during the pandemic. She has also started a delivery for school families who have parents with children under 3 needing formula and diapers. One thing to know: She is selfless and does this for her school community, even though she lives in another town.
