Press release from City of Tuscaloosa: April 25, 2022 The City of Tuscaloosa's Finance Department has been awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the third consecutive year from the Government Finance Officers Association for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2021. This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting, reflecting the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To qualify for the award, the City of Tuscaloosa had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation to assess how well the budget serves as: a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. The City of Tuscaloosa also received this award in 2020 for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2019 and in 2021 for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2020.
