SWAMPSCOTT, MA — A worker at the Whole Foods store in Swampscott died Wednesday after contracting the new coronavirus. "Whole Foods Market is mourning the loss of a member of our community who passed away on April 15, 2020 due to COVID-19," the company said in a statement. "Our hearts are with his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time, and with his fellow Team Members at our Swampscott, Massachusetts store." Other details about the man were not released. As of Tuesday, there were 60 confirmed coronavirus cases in Swampscott, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. On April 7, a woman who worked at the Market Basket in Salem and Walmart in Lynn died from coronavirus. On the same day, grocery store workers protested outside a Whole Foods store in Boston to demand hazard pay for continuing to work during the coronavirus pandemic.
