SWAMPSCOTT, MA — The Swampscott Police Department bid a fond farewell more than three decades of experience on the job and the man behind the union's holiday parade each year on Tuesday when Lt. Paul Bartram signed off after his final shift. Bartram joined the department in 1986 as a reserve officer and became full-time in 1991. He is a lifelong Swampscott resident. A longtime member of the motorcycle unit, and its former supervisor, Lt. Bartram was also supervisor of the detective unit, was a court officer and was involved in accident reconstruction. He was one of the department's firearms instructors, was on the union board and helped organize the Swampscott Police Association's holiday parade each year. "He was looked up to by all the members of the department and we are all sad to see him walk out the door this morning after his last shift," Swampscott police said.
