Guinea pigs - Texels- FYI

I thought I would post a little information about the variety of Guinea pig called a Texel, they by nature are more laid back and mellow. Mine are happy to relax with me while I sit on the couch, they enjoy scratches under their chin or on their nose and neck. They are unusual in that their hair grows kinky curly and long. They are not rare but they can be harder to find and are typically not found in pet shops. There are a few local Southern California individuals who show and breed who will have some animals available for adoption from time to time. Pet adoption fees for Texels maybe higher but should not be markedly higher unless they are exceptional show animals.
