GEORGETOWN, DC — Rockbridge Academy Senior Emma McLaughlin has signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division 1 women's lacrosse at George Washington University. McLaughlin has been awarded a four-year athletic scholarship. She began playing lacrosse in second grade.
"I had sent a couple of emails to the coaches but they really found out about me at a training that my club does. I had sprained my ankle, so I wasn't going to go that night, but my coach had encouraged me because he thought I could learn something. I ended up helping out the GW assistant coach with the station she was running. She showed me how to do some fancy wallball tricks. After that, we started talking. I talked to the head coach and went on a visit a few weeks later," McLaughlin said.
She plans to study marketing, entrepreneurship or economics and political science.
