WASHINGTON, DC — The D.C. Health Department confirmed Saturday morning five new deaths due to the new coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. This brings the total number of deaths from the virus in the District to 91. The individuals who lost their lives were identified as: A 69-year-old femaleA 71-year-old femaleA 79-year-old maleAn 83-year-old maleAn 87-year-old femaleThe District also reported 190 additional coronavirus cases, bringing the city's confirmed total to 2,666. Ward 4 — which includes Petworth, Fort Totten, Queens Chapel, and Chevy Chase — accounts for 459 of cases (17 percent) in the District. The ward with the second highest number of cases is Ward 7, which includes Benning Heights, Good Hope, Kenilworth, and Naylor Gardens. As of Saturday morning, 15 percent of known coronavirus cases in D.C. come from Ward 7. The total now stands at 402. The ward with the fewest number of cases are Wards 2 and 3. Ward 2 — which includes Chinatown, Dupont Circle, Georgetown, and the U Street NW corridor — has 215 positive infections, or 8 percent of D.C.'s cases. Ward 3 — which includes Cathedral Heights, Cleveland Park, McClean Gardens, and Woodley Park — has 205 positive infections, or 8 percent of D.C.'s cases. More information can be found here.
