Description
I have a male pitbull mix that I love with my whole heart. He’s five years old and I rescued him last summer as a stray. He was chipped and I reached out to his original owners and they had just rehomed him and the man said he wasn’t working out and appears to have dumped him so his owner let me keep him.
I’ve had him since, he has some food aggression and has jumped on my other dog occasionally but never done damage. He also had started going after my cats unrelated to food. He would do best as the only pet.
I’m moving to an apartment complex soon and worried that the smaller space will make his issues worse and could also get me into trouble if they have breed bans. So though it breaks my heart, I think I may need to rehome him to a home where he’d be the only pet. He is great with my five year old daughter and never shown any aggression to people. He’s also good with my other dog (except for times he’s feeling jealous or there’s food involved) and could possibly be with another big dog if properly trained.
Does anyone have any resources? I don’t want to risk him falling into the wrong hands so I’d like to have vet references. He’s my big fat baby.
I hate this but a really really need a placebefore the end of May. He needs somewhere where he’d be the only pet and if that were the case he’d be perfect. He’s food aggressive towards my other dog and gets jealous of my attention and toys. He also has a chase instinct with cats and chickens/ducks.
I love him beyond words but I’m going from a 3 bedroom house with a yard to a tiny apartment and I know that change will make these issues so much worse and worry for my cats safety. If anyone can please please please help and spread the word!
