We invite you to visit with us and find a place for your talents. We are looking for a creative and energetic Musician to be a part of First Baptist Church at 595 New Street, Macon, Georgia 31201. You will be responsible for providing music for worship services, funerals, and activities as scheduled. You should be able to conduct rehearsals and instruct choir members. We are seeking someone passionate about music and has a keen interest in serving through music. Musician Responsibilities: • Selecting appropriate musical pieces for the choir to perform based on the venue and occasion. • Providing the necessary guidance and direction during choir rehearsals to assist choir members in achieving the correct tone, pitch, rhythm, tempo, and harmony. • Selecting individual choir members to perform solos. • Excellent leadership skills with strong communication and interpersonal skills • Provide instrumental music for designated Sunday worship services and any other worship service • Provide occasional recommendations to enhance/improve choral musical experience by enlisting paid professional vocalist and instrumentalist when needed and is in constraints of the music budget Musician Requirements: • Piano player and/or organ player with ability to read music and/or play by ear • The ability to interpret various styles of music. • Availability for Sunday morning worship services (~10:30 am – 12:30 pm) • Be able to attend choir rehearsals at least once per week • Bachelor’s degree in music, music education, or related field (preferred, not required) • Former experience working as a church musician (preferred, not required) • Be patient, creative, and assertive.
