GEORGETOWN, MD — While Dumbarton House's 9th annual Jane Austen Film Festival has been canceled, people are encouraged to celebrate virtually Wednesday at 7 p.m. for a Netflix watch party of Mansfield Park. During the viewing, festival organizers will be posting fun facts and questions for debate throughout the movie. There will be a follow-up discussion with three Austen scholars July 22. Kim Wilson will focus on Jane Austen party culture, Sheryl Craig will highlight Regency money and economics, and Carrie Bebris will discuss the types of men a young lady might encounter while socializing in the Regency period. Each panelist will speak for approximately half an hour and there will be a question-and-answer session. A Pride and Prejudice scavenger hunt has been planned for July 29. Watch the movie at home and engage in the scavenger hunt during the showing by deciphering clues and riddles. Sign up no later than the Tuesday before each program to receive more information and links.
