Enjoy a night of live music, drinks, and fun - benefiting Grand County Search and Rescue! Doors open at 3pm, Music and fun from 4-8pm Join us for an amazing benefit concert supporting Grand County Search and Rescue! When an unexpected snow storm dropped nearly a foot of snow on two brothers during their annual backpacking trip last September, it forced them to call for help for the first time in 20 years. Grand County Search & Rescue answered that call. The brothers dog, Stella, got scared and ran off after the rescue crews came into the camp. Unfortunately after hours of calling for her late at night they had to make the hard decision to make it to safety without her. After five heartbreaking days had passed without Stella home, the volunteers from The GCSAR Team Lead from the mission was determined to rally a team to return and search for Stella, on his own time. On Sept 25, the Team Leader rallied and coordinated a team, who in their “free time” (all GCSAR members are volunteer and unpaid on missions, “free time” is above and beyond that commitment), went back into the field, armed with canine behavioral intelligence from a fellow GCSAR member, and against all odds, successfully located, gained the trust of, and led out Stella – and reunited Stella with her owner! It was a testament to the dedication, sacrifice, tenacity, perseverance, and selflessness of the team. Today, those brothers found their pay it forward moment and crafted this event to say thank you. With members of their band, Slopeside, the Winter Park Chamber Of Commerce and Grand County Search & Rescue, we have created the Stella Gives Back Benefit Concert to be held on August 13th in the heart of Winter Park, at the Rendezvous Event Center in Hideaway Park. Grand County Search & Rescue is a 501(c)3 all volunteer organization that is available 365 days a year 24/7 for backcountry emergencies. The team operates ENTIRELY through generous support from individuals and businesses like you. Using donations, they are able to buy critical rescue command vehicles, communication tools, technical gear, food, and first aid.
