Description

An evening celebrating original artwork and performance from Muslim creatives For the past decade, MIPSTERZ has hosted a mixed-media showcase to mark the end of Ramadan and celebrate Eid. For many of us who don’t have the privilege of spending Eid with our families, these events were created for us to reconnect with old friends and make new ones on the auspicious day of Eid, inshallah. Join us this year with our friends Black Muslims Now and Muslim Writers Collective to celebrate amazing Muslim talent while also strengthening our communities. We’ll be featuring music, spoken word, visual art, and film from Muslim creatives around NYC. Not to mention we’ll have refreshments, photo opps for your Eid outfit, a live DJ, and immersive art from the ALHAMDU | MUSLIM FUTURISM series and more. If you RSVP by April 29, entrance is free/pay-what-you-wish. About the OrganizersMIPSTERZ is a non-traditional art and culture collective producing and presenting the creative voice of American Muslims to broad audiences. Our projects are a home for marginalized Muslim and allied creators to flourish, collaborate, and experiment with diverse folks who share a common connection to a larger tradition. We mentor junior-level artists, create artistic works through collaboration, and amplify artwork through showcases and partnerships with recognized arts and culture institutions. We have been bringing our multidimensional third-culture-inspired stories to outlets worldwide since 2012. Follow us on Instagram @mipsterzofficial or email us at [email protected] to get involved. You can also make a tax-deductible donation to help us continue presenting and producing authentic narratives. MIPSTERZ is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. http://bit.ly/donate-MIPSTERZ -- Black Muslims Now (BMN) is a collective of passionate NYers with a real love for our people & culture! The organization was formed in response to the uprisings of the summer of 2020, with the aim of serving NYC's Black Muslims in their pursuit of self and community advancement. BMN celebrates the beauty and brilliance of Black Muslim culture while striving to create solutions around key challenges facing the Black Muslim population in New York City, including Islamophobia as well as structural racism and discrimination from within the Muslim community and society at large. BMN was founded in the spirit of the great Black Muslim American leaders that have fought for the uplifting of Black people and Black Muslims in NYC, across the USA, and globally. We work to create elevated, dynamic, and strategic social programming, as well as spearheading and collaborating on service projects to benefit Black Muslims across the city. At BMN, we connect Black Muslims in New York and the surrounding area to Black Muslim charities, Islamic events, local businesses, services, and more in an effort to create connectivity, empowerment, racism-free spaces, to build a strong and unified Black Muslim NYC community, now and in the future.
